Proofer Humidity Element

- Water line: the heated length must sit below it
The sealed terminal end is what separates this from an oven element. One of the same size is not a substitute — the seal differs, and the failure mode is electrical.

Moisture-resistant heating element for the water tray of a commercial proofer.
Useful first checks. Check the water level first. A proofer that has run dry will not steam even with a good element, and refilling costs you nothing.
What this part is
A sheathed element that sits in the proofer water tray and boils water to raise chamber humidity. Physically similar to an oven element but sealed differently, because it runs submerged and cycles wet to dry.
How it fails
Two ways. The terminal seal degrades and moisture tracks into the connection — this shows as tripping the RCD rather than as no steam. Or scale builds up on the sheath until it insulates the element from the water, which reads as weak steam and ends in the element overheating and failing.
What decides whether a replacement fits
These are category-level selection factors, not specifications for a specific product. Confirm each value from the machine and the physical part.
| Parameter | Typical | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Voltage | Read from the equipment nameplate and element marking. | Confirm supply voltage, phase and the element rating for the specific installation. |
| Power | Lower than oven elements, commonly a few hundred watts to ~2 kW | Sized to the tray volume. Over-rating boils the tray dry and scales the element faster. |
| Moisture rating at the terminal | Sealed terminal end, rated for submerged service | The difference between this and a standard oven element. Fitting a dry-rated element in a water tray is a shock hazard, not just a short life. |
| Overall length and bend form | U-bend or hairpin, sized to the tray | It must sit below the water line across its heated length. |
The mistake people actually make. Fitting a standard oven element because the dimensions match. They often do. The seal does not, and the failure mode is electrical.

Fits these models
We have not published a verified model list for this part yet. We only list a machine once we have measured the part against it or a customer has confirmed the install — a list padded with guesses is worth less than no list.
Send us your nameplate and a photo of the old part and we will review what the evidence supports.
What to photograph and measure
Photograph the nameplate, water tray, removed element, terminal seal and markings. Record dimensions and electrical ratings; verify that the replacement is rated for the same wet-service conditions.
